The Government has a much-publicised new target of 1.5 million new homes to be built across England in the current parliament. Because of this, councils like Cheshire West and Chester (CWaC) must now plan for more houses to be built each year.
This, along with changes to the National Planning and Policy Framework (NPPF) and local housing calculation method, mean that CWaC can no longer demonstrate that they have enough land ready to support a five-year supply of housing. This means that Tarvin could face unplanned development – unless we take action.
Tarvin Parish Council believes that unplanned new housing could cause significant impact on our community and as a result, consider it imperative that the Tarvin Neighbourhood Plan is updated.
Tarvin Parish Council has engaged with specialist planning consultants to explore how future growth could be managed. A scenario planning approach considered several potential development scenarios, identifying the different ways the Parish could expand. The indicative scenarios are designed to help start the conversation about future development and growth. This documentation was presented at Tarvin Parish Council’s monthly meeting on Monday 22nd June 2026.
Tarvin Parish Council can be contacted via the Parish Clerk. The email address for all queries relating to the Tarvin Future Development Consultation and the Neighbourhood Plan is: NP@tarvinparishcouncil.gov.uk.
